#WhenYouCareWeek
Campaign Guide

#WhenYouCareWeek is a week-long celebration of caregiving, running from November 11th-15th, 2024, featuring Elissa Strauss, author of When You Care: The Unexpected Magic of Caring for Others. This campaign will focus on engaging your community with meaningful conversations around caregiving, interdependence, and equitable partnerships. By collaborating with us, your organization will help shine a light on the joys, challenges, and critical importance of care in both personal and professional lives.

This guide will provide you with ideas, content suggestions, and ways to amplify the campaign across your platform and engage your audience. By joining forces, we can make caregiving visible, appreciated, and valued.

Daily Themes: Each day of the campaign will focus on a different theme from Elissa’s book, providing a clear direction for content and engagement.

  • Day 1/November 11th: The Importance of Caregiving in Early Parenthood

  • Day 2/November 12th: Rebalancing Caregiving Responsibilities (Fair Play)

  • Day 3/November 13th: The Rise of Male Caregivers/How Care Changes Men

  • Day 4/November 14th: Preparing for Parenthood Together

  • Day 5/November 15th: Q&A with Elissa Strauss

How to get involved

  • Post daily using the campaign materials we provide. Each day will feature a specific theme, so you can align your posts with content that resonates with your audience.

Tag your posts with #WhenYouCare and #WhenYouCareWeek and tag @ElissaStrauss, @TheParentCollective and other campaign collaborators to maximize your brand’s visibility and enjoy the mutual benefit of brand amplification and affiliation with the other campaign partners.

  • Offer a free copy of When You Care to your followers and a friend of their choice, driving engagement and participation. Tie entry into the giveaway with to a simple call-to-action, like tagging a fellow caregiver, or sharing a caregiving story.

  • Each collaborator is encouraged to create one story to share with the campaign’s collaborators about the work they do for everyone else to amplify. Please plan on sharing the stories of this campaign’s other collaborators.

  • As we approach the season of gratitude, invite your audience to share what they’re grateful for in their caregiving roles, tagging a co-parent or family member to celebrate and help make the “unexpected magic” of care more visible. Encourage your audience to use the hashtag #WhenYouCare so we can gather stories and photos that show the beauty and joys of care.

  • Whether through a newsletter, podcast, or dedicated blog post, highlight When You Care as a go-to resource for parents and caregivers in your community.

Campaign Amplification

Social Media Amplification: The number one commitment for campaign collaborators is amplify the posts from The Parent Collective’s social media platforms. Share the posts to your organization’s social media pages, stories, and platforms to encourage your audience to engage with the interactive content.

Interactive Content: For each topic, we will run interactive content like open-ended question boxes and polls to get your community involved!

Book Giveaways

Caregiver "Thank You" Book Giveaway: Host a giveaway where your followers can receive a copy of When You Care for themselves and a special caregiver in their life as a thank you for the care they’ve provided (or received). Followers can nominate a caregiver who has made an impact on their life by tagging them in the campaign post. This initiative provides an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the often-overlooked caregivers in your community, offering them a meaningful gift that underscores the value of their work and care.
